Who knew 'Jump Rope' will be fun for an adult too!

I am one of many who grew up skipping rope for fun or to kill time. Who knew it would become a killer total body workout that only takes 15-30 minutes of your time? I can not consider myself a pro at it but with practice I can improve. One thing for sure its a killer cardio workout that will send your heart rate sky high. Don't be surprised to have to pause to catch your breath and start it over again.


Jump Rope has many benefits that help with your fitness conditioning. You are looking at burning about 480 calories in half an hour. These core muscles that benefit of a good 'Jump Rope' session are the gastrocnemius, quadriceps, hamstrings, glutes, abdominal, forearms, and deltoids. out! It helps to improve your overall cognitive function, which is an important benefit as we age. Now who doesn't want that? Most of all it is a good source for strengthening your bones. For someone that truly believes has two left feet it like myself it is of great benefit to pick up 'Jump Rope'. It truly improves your cordination skills. One of my favorite benefit is the improvement of agility, hand-to-eye coordination, and balance. With the right technique, jumping rope is easy to master. An easy to do workout that actually strengthens your joints.


No other equipment needed. You will need good accessories to help prevent injuries though. Proper workout attire for the extra support. Good pair of shoes, aerobic or cross-training shoes, are the best choice because they have added support at the ball of your foot. Investing in a good durable jump rope hands down is key to success. You should spend on a rope that is easy to adjust and that uses ball bearings to connect the rope and handle. The reason being is that they tend to last longer than the end knotted in handle ropes.


Like with any other workout it is important to maintain good form. One is to target the desired muscles and most importantly to avoid injuries. You should jump only as high as is necessary for the rope to clear the space between your feet and the ground. Keep your knees slightly bent throughout the exercise. There are many ways to 'Jump Rope' that it makes it hard to find it boring. You can do to a beat by following music, skip/run/jump in place, alternating single foot hops, the list is endless.


For a bonus calorie-burning opportunity, add two to three minutes of steady 'Jump Rope' at the end of your fitness routines.
